1. Personal Information

"Personal Information" refers to "personal information" as defined in the Personal Information Protection Act, and means information about a living individual that can identify a specific individual, including name, date of birth, address, telephone number, contact information, and other descriptions, as well as data relating to appearance, fingerprints, voiceprints, and health insurance card insurer numbers that can identify a specific individual from the information alone (personal identification information).

2. Method of Collecting Personal Information

We may ask Users for personal information such as name, date of birth, and email address when they register to use the Service. We may also collect transaction records and payment information containing Users' personal information from our partners (including information providers, advertisers, and ad delivery destinations; hereinafter referred to as "Partners").

Users may choose to register for the Service using account information from social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc.). In that case, Users permit us to obtain their username, email address, and public profile from the social network they use. We may also share some of Users' service usage information with their social networks.

3. Purpose of Collecting and Using Personal Information

The purposes for which we collect and use personal information are as follows:

  • (1) To provide and operate our services
  • (2) To respond to inquiries from Users (including identity verification)
  • (3) To send emails about new features, updates, campaigns, and other services provided by us
  • (4) To contact Users as necessary for maintenance, important notices, etc.
  • (5) To identify Users who violate the Terms of Service or attempt to use the Service for improper or unfair purposes, and to refuse their use
  • (6) To allow Users to view, modify, or delete their own registration information, and to view their usage status
  • (7) Purposes incidental to the above purposes of use

Regarding Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to understand site usage. Google Analytics may use cookies for analytics. We do not use advertising tracking, advertising data sharing, or ad personalization. Google signals and ad personalization signals are disabled. The page location sent to Google Analytics contains the URL origin and pathname by default; as a reporting signal for visits carrying a ChatGPT UTM, the single known campaign parameter utm_source=chatgpt.com is added only when that exact, unique value is present. Visitors can add this parameter manually, so it does not prove that a visit actually came from ChatGPT Search. Referral information is limited to the origin of a valid HTTP(S) URL. Other URL user information, query parameters, fragments, and unknown campaign parameters are not sent.

For information about Google's use of information, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

4. Change of Purpose of Use

We will change the purpose of use of personal information only when it is reasonably recognized that the changed purpose is related to the purpose before the change. If the purpose of use is changed, we will notify Users or publicly announce the changed purpose on this website by our prescribed method.

5. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

We may entrust personal information to other businesses within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use. In such cases, we will select a contractor with a personal information protection system in place and conclude a contract regarding the protection of personal information. In principle, we will not provide personal information to third parties without obtaining the prior consent of the User. However, this does not apply in the following cases:

  • (1) When there are restrictions stipulated by laws regarding the protection of personal information
  • (2) When it is necessary to take measures including legal measures against a User's violation of the Terms of Service
  • (3) When disclosure is requested based on laws, such as a court warrant or a valid order from a public agency such as the police

6. Disclosure of Personal Information

When a person requests disclosure of their personal information, we will disclose it to the person without delay. However, if disclosure falls under any of the following cases, we may not disclose all or part of it, and if we decide not to disclose, we will notify the person without delay:

  • (1) When there is a risk of harm to the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the person or a third party
  • (2) When there is a risk of significantly hindering the proper implementation of our business
  • (3) When it would violate other laws

Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, in principle, we will not disclose information other than personal information, such as history information and characteristic information.

7. AI Data Sharing and User Consent

We use Google User Data obtained from restricted sensitive scopes in accordance with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements. We share specific data with third-party AI platforms to improve our services. This includes using AI services to evaluate Users' pronunciation and translate learning materials. Before data is shared, we obtain explicit User consent. Users are notified about the types of data shared, the purpose of sharing, and the third parties involved.

8. Correction and Deletion of Personal Information

If a User's personal information held by us is incorrect, the User may request correction, addition, or deletion of personal information (hereinafter referred to as "Correction, etc.") from us in accordance with the procedures prescribed by us.

If we determine that it is necessary to respond to a request received from a User under the preceding paragraph, we will make the Correction, etc. without delay.

If we make Correction, etc. based on the provisions of the preceding paragraph, or if we decide not to make Correction, etc., we will notify the User without delay.

9. Suspension of Use of Personal Information

If a person requests suspension of use or erasure (hereinafter referred to as "Suspension of Use, etc.") of their personal information on the grounds that it is being handled beyond the scope of the purpose of use or that it was obtained by improper means, we will conduct a necessary investigation without delay.

Based on the results of the investigation in the preceding paragraph, if we determine that it is necessary to respond to the request, we will suspend the use of the personal information without delay.

If we suspend the use of personal information based on the provisions of the preceding paragraph, or if we decide not to suspend the use, we will notify the User without delay.

Notwithstanding the preceding two paragraphs, if it is costly to suspend the use or if it is otherwise difficult to suspend the use, and if we can take alternative measures necessary to protect the rights and interests of the User, we will take such alternative measures.

10. Changes to Privacy Policy

The contents of this Policy may be changed without notifying the User, except for matters otherwise provided for in laws and regulations or in this Policy. Unless otherwise specified by us, the revised Privacy Policy shall take effect when posted on this website.
